Monday Makers!#39

Hi all,
How was your week?
The official flu season opened here in the Rennert residence last week with my son. Because he loves his mummy so much and is a very generous boy, mummy has been down with a nasty cold for almost ten days now. Last weekend and today were probably the worst days of this flu. I basically haven't done anything today; probably spent just an hour up on my feet and now sat down to write this blog post. Anyway, enough drama.

Now to Monday Makers!
I have made some progress with my placemats; the binding is attached and needs to be sewn on the back- no photo tho.
Today when I was up during that one hour, I managed to get some fabric photos for a possible future project.
Originally, these fabrics are from two different fat quarter bundles which I bought over a year ago. I have used some of them and these have been sitting on the shelf. I fell in love with them when I first bought them but now, even though I still think they are pretty I don't have the same passion towards them. I have been thinking about making a very simple coin quilt with these; pretty much like this quilt here
What do you think? I want to make this quilt for my son. Do you think the colours and the patterns are suitable for a boy or are they too girly?
And soon after I took these photos, this little man came looking for his mummy and off we went to have some cuddles.

A mini holiday

We went to the coast last weekend for a mini holiday and had an amazing four days. The Australian country side and coast are just beautiful.
And this is the holiday's contribution to my fabric stash. This selection is a mixture of Moda, Art Gallery and Robert Kaufman. They match with my fat quarter bundles beautifully.
I got these beautiful fabrics from Steph's at Moruya. I found her shop a couple of months ago when we went to Moruya for a drive. Her shop is very nice, bright and full of beautiful, modern fabrics. As oppose to the service at Canberra fabric shops, Steph welcomes you with a warm smile and is always happy to help you if you need a hand.  It looks like I will go there often- it is only two hours away from Canberra- yayy!

Fabric, fabric

I received my belated birthday gift : fabric! (and I still can't believe I turned 33!!)
I ordered these beauties a couple of weeks ago from Craftsy's year end sale and they finally arrived yesterday.

This one is from Robert Kaufman, Kona fat quarter bundle, top 20 colours. Love it!
This one is "A is for" from Windham Fabrics. There are 15 fat quarters in the bundle. I fell in love with the small prints and their colours. The top two fabrics are also so lovely; teaching the alphabet :)
This bundle has 20 fat quarters too. It is "Power Pop" from Jenean Morrison for Westminster Fabrics.
I like every single print in this bundle but aren't those bow ties adorable?

And this one is from the classics; Small Dots layer cake from Riley Blake. I love love polka dots :-)

Now all I can think of is quilting and I have already chosen a project to start with.
Happy sewing!
