2015 New Quilt Bloggers: Entries close 31 May!

Last year I participated in the 2014 New Quilt Bloggers Blog hop hosted by Beth @plum and june. I am so gald I participated because I have learned a lot-most of which still wait to be put into practice- and met many wonderful quilters with whom I am in touch regularly via emails and comments to their blog posts. That blog hop also formed a wonderful base for wonderful friendships. A group of the blog hoppers met at QuiltCon and cemented their friendships- thanks to IG, I never missed a thing :-)

This year, New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop is hosted by four talented bloggers:
Yvonne @Quilting Jetgirl

Scattered colours placemats and Monday Makers!#40

Hiya all!
Can't believe it is the 40th week of Monday Makers! Where is time going?? My son is turning three this Thursday. I love watching him grow into a beautiful boy but I also want to stop the time. Can't I just keep him at this age? Pretty please???...

You might remember that a while ago I started making some placemats to match with my scattered colours table runner. I finished them almost ten days ago but only today I had a chance to take proper pictures.
Here they are:
I really like how they turned out and compliment the runner.
A photo that showed all three together would have been very nice but I could only keep the muffins away from my son for five minutes!! Only enough to set the scene for the placemats!
What do you think?
Now to Monday Makers!
Last week I asked your advice on using some fat quarters to make a quilt for my son. I took your advice and asked him if he liked the colours and he said "of course mummy!" So I went ahead and cut them and started sewing the other night.
I will try to post some progress shots during the week if I can.
Now it is your turn to share your finishes and starts with us!
1.Your project can be anything you start on that Monday as long as it makes you move and be active and creative: a new quilt, a knitting project, scrap booking, cross-stitching, baking-we don't mind yummy recipes!, a gardening project, painting your house!, tidying up the pantry!...This is your Monday and you are the maker of the day!

Monday Makers!#39

Hi all,
How was your week?
The official flu season opened here in the Rennert residence last week with my son. Because he loves his mummy so much and is a very generous boy, mummy has been down with a nasty cold for almost ten days now. Last weekend and today were probably the worst days of this flu. I basically haven't done anything today; probably spent just an hour up on my feet and now sat down to write this blog post. Anyway, enough drama.

Now to Monday Makers!
I have made some progress with my placemats; the binding is attached and needs to be sewn on the back- no photo tho.
Today when I was up during that one hour, I managed to get some fabric photos for a possible future project.
Originally, these fabrics are from two different fat quarter bundles which I bought over a year ago. I have used some of them and these have been sitting on the shelf. I fell in love with them when I first bought them but now, even though I still think they are pretty I don't have the same passion towards them. I have been thinking about making a very simple coin quilt with these; pretty much like this quilt here
What do you think? I want to make this quilt for my son. Do you think the colours and the patterns are suitable for a boy or are they too girly?
And soon after I took these photos, this little man came looking for his mummy and off we went to have some cuddles.
