'Rise Up' - Modern Christmas Trees quilt

Days of rain and wet soil...finally things dried up. As soon as I came home from work today, I quickly got changed, sorted the boy out with his toys, put the meat on to the BBQ and ran across the street to take a few photos of my Modern Christmas Trees quilt which I finished a few days ago. I managed to take a few nice enough photos in ten minutes-ten minutes was enough to burn the meat. That's another story...
Here is the Modern Christmas Trees.
I like the scrappy binding a lot. The red piece is also pointing the right way up!
I really enjoyed quilting this quilt with pebbles. It looks simple; it is only making circles at the end of the day. Well, that's what I thought until I started quilting. Don't remember how many times I watched the pebbles section of Christina Cameli's FMQ Craftsy class LOL. I can't recommend it enough; it really helped me get the hang of stitching pebbles. Having said that, none of them are perfect; well, pebbles are not found in that perfect circle form in nature, are they? (Justification done.)
I didn't quilt the triangles; therefore they look puckered a little, especially the red triangles, but I am fine with it.
What do you think? Have you tried pebbling before? What was your experience?

  2. The pebbles look great - congratulations on the finish. I also really like the touch of red in the binding - lovely! Pebbles are fun if you can relax into them and go with a bit of "wonky". They also take a really long time (at least in my experience). I do love the texture they add to a quilt though, and it is probably my husband's favorite quilting pattern.

  8. That is SUCH a great quilt, and the quilting is fabulous - the perfect contrast to the straight lines of the trees :D The pieced binding is the icing on the cake - very nice :D Sorry about the burned meat though - I actually prefer my steaks - and I know chefs hate this, but I can't help it - "Chicago" style (charred on the outside) and well done inside :D Whatever you cooked that was burned - I probably would have eaten, LOL!!

  9. I think your pebble quilting looks great! It looks really even and neat to me. I have tried before, and like you I felt a bit disappointed, like they weren't as good as others. But it was my first go at it, so I guess I'll get better with practice.
